Several NRG components are manufactured from UHMW-PE, a high density linear polyethylene with an extremely high molecular weight, a minimum of 4.5 million. The unique molecular composition of UHMW gives it properties which make it the best material available for sprockets as well as wear shoes and strips. Carbon steel was assigned an abrasion rating of 100, with other materials tested assigned values in relation to carbon. The lower the number, the better the material resists wear. The chart clearly indicates the superior abrasion resistance of parts made with UHMW.    NRG UHMW is not just superior to other materials in abrasion resistance.
